I have an ASROCK K8VM800 mobo and I was wondering if I wouldnt have any trouble with SUSE 10.1 (64 bit version)

My whole stuff is:

- The mobo up there
- Sempron 3000+ (palermo, so it's 64bit compatible :p)
- 2x512Mb Corsair ValueSelect
- 80Gb 7200rpm SATA WD
- Radeon 9250 (but x1600PRO is on the way :D)
- HP 1410
- Monitor, non usb keyboard and mouse and a couple of speakers, LG CD-RW and LG DVD-RW (dual layer)

Also, what video processing program would you recommend? ( I Know Kino it's included but want to make DVD's out of avi files, mux and demux and stuff, that's my main reason for trying linux, 3 hours for a single dvd is no fun in windows :p)

Should work fine :-D

The only thing I'm not sure about is the proprietary ATI driver.

Check out K3b for CD/DVD burning.

I would suggest googling: Kino, Cinelerra, blender

May the holy penguin be with you my child!

WINE works in mysterious ways... it may take some getting used to...

There is a much friendlier commercial version called Cedega published by transgaming.

It's not perfect but it's pretty good and has good support :-D

It's $5/mo or $55/year.

IIRC Doom, Quake, Unreal and a few other games have native Linux versions ( see below )

It might be a BIOS issue or a bad burn.

Did you verify the md5 and or sha1 sums before burning the ISO???

That probably messed it up :-(

What kind of internet connection do you have?

What country are you in?

If you can't get the original ISO back you're going to have to download a good clean ISO or at least a Live CD to make the machine usable.

If file scavenger can't find it then you can:

0. download DSL ( 50MB CD ) and use that temporarily

1. download Knoppix ( 700MB CD or 3.1GB DVD ) and use that

2. download the SuSE install CD ( s ) ( 700MB each )

3. download a lightweight Live CD ( about 100 - 300MB ) and use that temporarily

If file scavenger does find the file then be sure to run md5sum and sha1sum on it!!!!

No, I'm afraid not. The 50MB DSL can't be used to install SuSE but it can be used to do a hard drive install of Debian, but it will take many hours to apt-get / download everything to make it more usable.

It will work fine as a Live CD but you will not have a lot of applications.

Knoppix is a lot larger @ 700MB but includes a TON of applications.
