I'm planning on buying the stuff in my wishlist. Can I get any of the parts cheaper elsewhere? Should I wait until the thanksgiving sales though? How much could I save?

https://secure.newegg.com/WishList/ [...] D=12707629

Also, I was told I'd need an AM3+ mobo to run this cpu:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103675

it runs at about 1/3 clock speed on my micro atx mobo because it's a 125w card, and a kinda weird one at that. Do I need an AM3+ or something else?

Edit: Fixed links

I dont know if it you or my IE9
IE9 can be difficult on Toms

can you list parts list?

Sorry about that, I fixed them. Sucks about the flooding in Thailand, HDD's shot up at least $50

this is the board they recommend on that CPU link
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131646

looks good for 125
Hard to go wrong with an Asus
and it is AM3
plus is setup for ATI Crossfire if you want to do that later
also has usb 3 and sata 6gb

Also I would stay with Newegg
best combo of price and shipping and customer service

and if you dont mind waiting until Thanksgiving
the friday and monday after Thanksgiving has killer deals usually

I probably will wait, hopefully the HDD prices will come down by then. Thanks for the info, that cpu is really unusual and confusing ^^

Friday is the in store specials usually with some online
then monday after thanksgiving is what is called
E-Day
or onlines version of Black Friday
usually will find the lowest prices of the year
just stay up late sundday night or get up early Mon AM
later in the day the online sites sell out of hot items

also the mobo I linked was actually on the link you gave me
where it said what most customers buy with that cpu
and that was the mobo everybody is buying with that chip

125 for an Asus with sata 6 and usb 3 plus Crossfire ability
looks pretty good to me

it should support the 125w CPU
not all AM3s do
but that one has alot of nice features you dont need right away
but in the future you will be glad you have

I would also consider an AMD/ATI GPU
since you would have the ability to run it dual later
like a HD 6850,HD 6870 or HD 6950 are all good options
in the 150-250 price points
then pick up a second one later when you need more power

Thanks a bunch, that's all I needed (: but since I doubt that particular case and mobo will go on sale, would it not be a safe bet to just buy them now?

Edit: That mobo is pretty expensive, is there anything cheaper in terms of SATA 6GB/s AM3? USB 3.0 isn't a necessity for me

this is a nice cheaper board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813138197

also even cheaper is this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813130295

but this might be your best choice
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131699

careful there is no onboard video so having video cards is a must

also this is cheap and looks good

remember to read the user reviews
but also remember that the complainers always write reviews
while the satisfied customers dont always write

Those are nice alternatives, thanks. Is there any reason to get an atx over a micro atx board though? I'm leaning towards atx just so it fills out my case more but I don't know of any differences. And what does it mean when it says, under supported ram, 1600(OC)? That it only supports OC'd 1600mhz ram, not natively clocked ram?

Reply to kigrax

that would be a question for a thread
i am not sure

I like ATX boards because of more ram slots and easier to fit
larger coolers on the board
if you plan to OC than look at cheaper coolers by Coolermaster,Scythe and Zalman
I like the 92mm styles
big enough to keep it cool but not being monstrous
