I'm in the process of building my own computer (a first) and thought I had configured it for 64-bit (64-bit processor, mobo, & video card). But I'm having problems with the DVD drive (Sony DRU-830A). The install process starts up, but then stops with an error message indicating a CD/DVD device is missing. A Sony tech rep said that this drive will not support 64-bit (and Sony doesn't have any 64-bit DVD drives). Is this true & if it is, are there any 64-bit DVD burners available and what are they.

Thanks for any help.

I found my problem. Apparently it was the IDE cable. Once I installed a new cable, it works. I'm wondering if the tech person was thinking I was talking about the bundled software and not the native drive.
