hi,
i'm just curious if it's possible to separately purchase extended warrantees from square trade for newegg purchases. i've been reading really terrible stuff about service net with many different retailers and that's what newegg offers for third party warranties.

ah...thanks, priya. i should have looked at square trade before posting. a few quick questions:

1.can you tell me if square trade offers warranties on entire system builds or would i need to get each component covered separately?

2.how exactly is coverage cost determined?

3. what is the window of time to obtain coverage for components / new system build after all parts are purchased?

4. would i need to get eveything covered before cracked open the boxes, so to speak?

How apropos. I was just researching this very question. I'm buying most of my components from newegg, but my cpu came from Microcenter. Trying to figure out if I can add up all the items of the desktop together and warranty that or warranty each part. I'm sure many of us would like to know the answer to that question.

I'm aware this is an old thread but felt this information might be worth posting for those with the same questions. I called Squaretrade. I was on hold no longer than 20 seconds. Very Cool! The customer service rep was very friendly an patient.

Heres the deal... This week I just purchased a motherboard, processor, HDD, memory, case etc from newegg. (Still waiting for it to be delievered) Today I contacted SquareTrade about getting a warranty. The customer service rep was unsure if I coupld apply for warrantys on the individual parts or if I apply for a warranty on the cost of the total system, so I was transferred to a supervisor.

The supervisor apologized and said they were sorry but SquareTrade DOES NOT offer warranty protection on "any item" a user installs including items such as motherboards. Nor will Squaretrade sell a warranty to cover the cost of the total computer because all the items were installed by me... i.e., the owner/user.

Very disappointed... :-(
