I've tried to figure out where i'd find this answer or even where i should ask this but to no avail...
I thought i had actually found the answer on the american site but it said I didnt have permission to access the post?? and kept directing me back to the Uk site?

my question is:
Why is it when i click edit on my post/thread, then click submit it says "you are not allowed to edit this page?"

what going on? am i doing something wrong?

Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance...

And apologies if this is in the wrong forum/group...

It depends on the type of post you made. If it was a quick reply, you need to use quick edit. If you used the "Add a reply" button, you can use the full edit functionality. Normal edit does not work on a quick reply, and vice versa.

Thanks for your help so far, it was the first post I'd made in the forum using the question box on the home page.

I had used both the 'edit this messsage' and the 'quick edit' icons in the bottom right corner - Both didnt work...

I've also tried both the above to a 'reply to......' message I'd added too, and that didnt work neither...

I'm going to try with this one which I've clicked as 'add a reply'

and

it worked...WTF? but maybe thats because I havent navigated away from this page/nor closed the browser? Could that be it? as i'm still not able to edit the other posts....

Did you make those posts as an anonymous user or without being logged in?

I initially wrote them as a guest, but the site wouldn't let me submit them until I had registered.

The posts appear with my name and profile next to them.

This is an old thread.

I also get this when trying to edit. What Herr_Koos said helped and I was able to edit the post but it still seems misleading. I feel it should only give the relevant edit button on quick edit or major edit and remove the other option to prevent confusion.

The difference in the working of Full Edit and Quick Edit is known and will be corrected when the platform upgrade comes out shortly - hopefully. Full Edit lets you edit but won't let you post the changes - Quick Edit allows both so use that for the time being.
