As an Android programmer, I have played with the Honeycomb emulator, and man is it inefficient. Basically the thing is emulating both an ARM CPU and OpenGL calls. So, when you run it, you are welcomed with an OpenGL-based screen. It runs at a snail's pace. Adding more cores to your system? Doesn't help. It's locked at one core.

So, what use is the emulator? I feel that finding 1-2 apps that use a lot of CPU power and running it in that emulator has great potential for being a benchmark. Google is trying to improve the tablet emulator, but the current one would be great for benchmarking CPUs running JIT-compiled code.
