Article Idea for Monitors/HDTV at 120Hz

I just posted a question on the graphics and displays section that gave me the idea:

It would answer this question first:

If my goal is to upgrade to a 120Hz monitor, as monitor and TV features seem to be converging, why would I buy something called a computer monitor over something called a TV?

Can you run 120Hz refresh rates on something called a monitor or something called an HDTV? Does it make a difference? If both a monitor and an HDTV are said to be 3D-ready, does that mean they are both capable of running 120Hz in non-3D fashion at 1080p resolutions (given the video card(s) support(s) this?)?

I think this is a really gray area for a lot of us. I would love to see something about this. My sweet spot for a 1080p monitor seems to be 27". Edges maintain their crispness and pixels are not yet visible. When I sit close (as I would to a PC) to my 37" or 40" televisions, I see pixels (Is it merely size that differentiates a monitor from an HDTV?).

Again, for comparison's sake the 1080p resolution should be used, though if there's a monitor/TV with higher res at 120Hz, that would be interesting to know about as well.
