Need a new laptop

Forum General UK & Ireland Discussions : Need a new laptop

Hello,
I am in the need of a new laptop. I am currently an art student, doing Photography, and I need one with a good screen card, graphics and capasity. I also like gaming every now and then, and I expect to use it for this as well.
I am currently a PC user, but recently Ive been told to convert to a Mac, but Im just not convinced yet. At my school we use macs, and pretty much all my fellow students use some sort of apple equippment. But I am in a very big bubble when I think this is all because the big apple is just a fancy brand.

What do you think I should go for, when what I need is something good for photo editing, gaming and general uni work?

Gaming means you will have to go with a Windows-based platform, photo editing I think can use either platform, but works better on Mac (from what I've read/heard). These days though Macs can actually run Windows as well as the standard Mac OS, so a dual-boot between the two is very possible.

What I would suggest then is to get a midrange to high end Apple laptop and then just install a Windows OS (for the games) and dual-boot between the two.

Besides, for decent graphics on a PC laptop you are going to pay close to (if not more) than you would for a Mac laptop.
