hey my friend got a new LITEON drive 169series and the problem with the drive is thats it takes ages to write a CD (about 30 min) but is fine in the DVD department no probs there ,even the cd writing operation takes 30 minutes , that's a big problem .The rig isn't slow it
AMD64 3000+
ram :512 MB (400 Mhz )
and blah blah blah ...
please help

Try different media, burning software and speed of burning.
Try running diagnostics on the drive from Lite-on or others.

Have you also tried a different program?

Burn the software with microsofts build in burner, aka drag and drop. If you have roxio, download a nero trial or visa versa. If by Liteon you mean Generic 4 slot Toaster, please clean the crumb tray out first.

hey i got the grive replaced and reinstalled windows xp and the updated mobo drivers but the problem is still there ,the cd writing takes horrendous amount of time

hey i have tried most of your soultions but they din't really work so now i told my freind to upgrade the firmware ,he will let me know if the problem is solved or not .i will definitely inform you ,thanks for the help
