Here is my previous thread.

This has become beyond frustrating. My 250 gig hd keeps corrupting, my dvd burner will not functoin properly.

I have replaced and tested nearly every part in my pc, i got a new motherboatd, ran an old cpu, changed power supplies, and the probelm persists.

I know it cant be the video card or the ram, I'd get horrible errors.

Please tell me any ideas abot why my dvd burner wont work right, and why my 250 gig hd keeps corrupting itself.

Im convinced my computer is forever broken.

Have you tried installing a different DVD burner in your system? Personally, I don't buy Samsung. I have a had a lot of trouble getting Samsung DVD RW's to burn a DVD that will play in any other unit except another Samsung. I highly recommend a new Pioneer DVd RW. Good luck.

I would glady give it to your dad and let him use it in a computer it works in, then get something else for your computer. Are you using the same IDE cable to install it in your dads computer as you are using you install it in your computer?

No, but both cables are fairly new.

I have a Samsung combo drive I bought from Newegg last year. I don't if it's the same model as yours, but it looks like it and cost about the same. The thing hangs badly when I play DVD's. I even updated the unit's BIOS. Didn't help. None of my other drives hang. I have a second Samsung DVD burner and I had to take it out of my video editing system. Failed burns one after the other. When it did burn a DVD the DVD would only play in that player. I use Pioneer and have no problems what so ever. I have three Pioneer DVD RW and three or four Sony DVD RW. No problem.

You might want to try a different IDE cable in the computer you are having problems with..
