More Information

hi all,

I've been putting together a budget system for a friend of mine using the Elitegroup K7SEM motherboard.
it's running under windows 98 (not SE!, clean new install) and everything so far is fine.

apart from the on-board sound. I can't get it working. not with the drivers from the supplied CD nor with the drivers on the ECS website.
I run the selfextracting driver install file, so far, so good. then windows reboots tells me it found new hardware and is looking for the driver. but when I point it to the directory where the win95/98 driver should be in (and the .inf file is there) windows tells me that it can't find any driver for that hardware and just leaves it.

anyone with the same board who got the on-board sound working please let me know how.

respect!

PS: please don't suggest to disable the on-board sound and use a PCI-soundcard. it's a budget system and the full integration of video/audio/lan in the board was the reason to buy it in the first place.
