Can anyone take a look at my settings and tell me if a pair OCZ PC 3700 will help me get a higher overclock.
I'm stable @2.95mhz HTT 246 (vcore 1.57) with idle temps 34c and 50c peak
RAM settings: 2.5 3 3 5 1T (Vdim set to 3.00 from 2.80) MEM divider 200/183
CPU-Z shows MEM Freq.@ 227.1 mhz (I guess I.m overclocking it since its ddr 400 with stock timings 3 3 3 8 2T)
I tried a HTT of 248 and was stable in prime95 but crashed in game.
I lowered the divider to 166 and pushed FSB to 250 wich took me to 3.0 with mem freq @200 mhz.But it crashed in game(not to mention that it dropped performance a bit @ this setting)
I tried a vcore of 6+ but still didnt help.
I also tried looser timings but the performance drops. So getting a higher OC with less performance doesnt cut it.
The only way I was able to test for all this was to see if my fps went up or down in DOD source.
It seems to me that if I want to acheive a higher OC I need faster ram.
But I'm not sure about it,need advice from you guys.

These are my current setting and results:

HTT 246 vcore 1.57
Mult. x12
SB to NB 200
K8 to NB 4x <....(the noob guide didnt mention 2 settings to change?)
Sb to NB 4x
both linkswidths 16 up/down
Ram 2.5 3 3 5 1T vdim @ 3.0

Current Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego @2.95
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe bios 1009
Corsair TWINX 2048 (2x1048) PC 3200
Zalman CNPS700BLED CPU Cooler
BFG OC 7900gtx in SLI
WD 250 HD
Sound Blaster X-Fi
Silverstone 600watt PS
3DMARK05 score 14,228...(12,055 before)
DOD source 106 fps.....(80 before)all settings high, HDR off with 21'widescreen
