Almost 8% of U.S. households now using VoIP - Market Research

In-Stat, a technology market research firm, says almost 8% of U.S. households are using Voice Over IP (VoIP). Leading the pack in VoIP services is Skype with 2.1 million households, followed closely by Vonage and Time Warner Cable with 1.7 and 1.6 million respectively. Read more

Voice-over IP (VoIP) ICs continue to gain traction as VoIP functionality is integrated into customer premise equipment (CPE) including modems, routers and residential gateways, In-Stat suggests. The VoIP IC market will grow to US$1.3 billion in 2009, up more than five-fold from $208.7 million in 2004, according to the market research firm. Read more
