I just bought three identical second user 1U servers. The have Tyan
Thunder 251x V1.03 motherboards and are running Amibios 7.00. The
servers all have an ATAPI CDROM and floppy.

My problem is that none of the servers will boot off cdrom regardless
of what settings I place in the BIOS boot order. I have tried various
combinations but they all refuse to boot and I am left with a flashing
cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen. I have triple
checked that the CD's are bootable. I have also checked the CDROMs
actually work by using a bootable floppy.

I'm obviously doing something very wrong somewhere - anyone got any
ideas?

the cdrom drives may not be bootable, this is only likely if 4x or slower
also, there may be a switch in bios along the lines of ' allow alternate
boot device'

I can't find a setting like that in the bios and the cdroms are "TEAC
CD-224E" which are 24X afaik.
