A friend of mine has the exact problem as Ginncan wrote, and we followed the advise farmuse posted and still the same error. We have disconnected/unplugged every cable that has anything to do with the USB or Firewire and even front panel audio. The computer still hangs at POST with the message "Initializing USB Controllers". Very annoying, any more ideas that we could try? Can't even get into BIOS/Setup.
We have tried to start w/o any keyboard and/or USB mouse plugged in but still the same. We are using a keyboard that is connected the old fashion way with PS/2 but still the same error.
Would be great if someone could pitch in with new ideas. The mobo is an Asus K8V SE Deluxe. We found a FAQ on Asus homepage but it only refers to disable any USB controller in BIOS but thats the problem we can't get into BIOS
I'm having the same problem on my brand new Asus P5E3 Deluxe Wifi but only when I use CellShock DDR3-1600MHz ram. If I use Kingston Value Ram DDR3-1066 then it boots normally.
