I'm about to reinstall Windows XP on a 8K3A computer. It used to be the
case that it was better to just use the standard XP drivers and not bother
with the VIA drivers. Is this still the case ? There have been severl newer
versions of the VIA drivers since this machine was first installed.

IMHO, better with VIA (and other vendor-supplied) drivers than the
"official" Microsoft drivers. YMMV.
