Hi!

I'm trying to connect an SPDIF out connector to my 8K9AI motherboard. This
works fine as long as the PCI-metal piece which has the SPDIF plug on does
not touch my case (AOpen midi-tower). But as soon as the metal comes in
contact with the metal in the case I loose sound or it gets very very poor.
What can I do about that? Any tips? Thanks!

I don't know the cause. A possible solution: vinyl electrician's tape.

Perhaps there is a grounding problem. Have you tried to remount the
motherboard in the case? Are you using the optical or coaxial audio
out (I assume coaxial).

You are absolutely right, it is a grounding problem. I even know why...I am
not using the original cable as it didn't come with the motherboard. I tried
to use a cable from my old Soundblaster card which has only three pins...and
no grounding. I believe the problem should be solved when I buy an original
cable like this one: http://www.komplett.no/k/ki.asp?sku=117804&cks=SER

My bad, thanks for your help!

Is there anyone in the UK who actually stocks that part? I've looked many
times for the spdif module for my ga+ mobo without success.

Don't know, but I would think komplett.co.uk could get it for you if you
call them or send an email. Komplett.no has it, it's the same company...

Thanks Pk, I might give that a go, they certainly don't list it in their
catalogue.

My experience in the past is that noone actually stocks it and they aren't
prepared to get it.
