I'm looking at installing a larger hard drive.
Can anyone tell me what is the largest drive supported
without using a software work around?
Also what is the largest partition that I can use?

Running Windows 98 SE
8k7a board with latest non beta bios (don't remember the ver #).

Thanks

You can certainly go to 128 GB on both the standard IDE ports with a recent
BIOS. I think one of the latest BIOS also had a fudge for the first Maxtor
160 GB drives, but for no risk, I would not go above 128 unless you are
prepared to use special dirvers. I am using WinME and an 8K7A+.

Thanks for the info.
I was hoping to go with at least a 160 gig drive, maybe a pair of
120's will have to do till I decide to build my next system.

Get the FDISK update for Windows 98 so you will be able to partition
hard drives that are larger than 64 GB.

I don't believe the update was ever included in the live updates but I
could be wrong.
