yes, indeed. The Nforce3 chipset allows seperate settings of both memory and AGP speed. The BIOS settings allow treaking the front end speed from 200 up to 250 (maybe more) in 10 mhz increments. Core voltage is also tweakable making this an overclokers dream come true.

I need some help with my installation. I purchased this motherboard as a combo with a Sempron 2800+ from outpost. I used a single stick of 512 MB Corsair PC3200 value RAM in slot 1. The stock HSF had a small square of heat-spreader paste(I assume it is for that) and I used it as it is.

When I powered the MB up, there is no video and I am getting continuous beeps from POST. The video card is an older Radeon 64 MB DDR. The RAM was purchased from Frys and was an open box(supposedly returned but tested fine). What could be the issue?

I suspected that the Radeon being a 4x agp could be an issue but nforce3-a supports both 4x/8x. At this point, I am unable to figure out the issue. Any insights?

For BIOS beep codes look below:
http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml#phoenix
The beep codes are specific to the BIOS mfr, the codes get complicated.

I purchased my mobo/cpu compination from Fry's (Outpost). I have a Sempron 3100+. Best to experiment by replacing both memory and video, and see what happens.

Hi there,

I too bought this board, but with a Sempron 3000+ and a 1 gig stick of memory. Added an Arctic cooling Freezer 7 pro to keep the chip cooler, and it's working really well. Someone asked what the temp was so I downloaded a program called sensors view pro which indicated the board was running at 78 degrees C. (The chip is stable at about 28-34 degrees depending on load btw).
I thought his was high, and that maybe the program was in error as the board seems to be stable enough. The suppliers suggested that I compare it to pother programs and see what transpires. They all come back with the same tale of (potential) woe, a board running at nearly 80 degrees C. Surely this cannot be normal, any advice?

I have a 120 fan at the front of the case, a 80 fan above the cpu cooler and as exhaust fan, also 80, and have "redesigned" the cabling so as to provide as much free air flow as possible, round ide cables etc. if this helps any.

Thanking you all in advance,

Norm

HT @ 3X
Mem @ 133 (PC2500) i have 2gb PC3200
voltage cpu @ 1.3%
GPU 7800gs+ + core 580 - mem 1500
