Hi:

I put a new power supply in my system. In doing so I accidentally disconnected
the case power LED wire from the motherboard. I can't figure out exactly where
it should be plugged in. Can someone give me some directions?

Ava,

If you look closely at the motherboard it should have the two pins labeled
that are for the power LED. If the text on the little pins is facing
towards the case, then all pins face the same way (rule of thumb for
polarity)

It goes on pins 2 & 4 on the FP1 connector. That connector is near the PCI
#5 slot and to the outside.
It is the same connector where you have the Power Switch and Reset Switch
connected.
The power switch goes on 6 & 8 (just to the side of 2 & 4)
The HDD LED goes on pins 1 & 3 which are directly across from 2 & 4.

Green(+) on 2 and White(-) on 4.

i was trying to find where it goes so i cut the power led so it could
fit on to basically any pin. i put the connector on to IR pin 2 and 2,
the light cfame on and a few secondslater went out. did i blow the
pin?

I believe that I alsohad to split the power led connector to get it to fit on
pins 2&4.
The pin layout for the FPI connector is wrong in the K7S5a manual.

Pins 2 and 4 ---- Power LED 2---Green (+) 4 --- White (-)
Pins 6 and 8 ----Power Switch 6---Black (+) 8 ---White (-)
Pins 1 and 3 --- HD LED 1---Orange (+) 3----White (-)
Pins 5 and 7 --- Reset Switch 5---White (-) 7---Orange (+)

At least on my K7S5a rev 3.1

If you still have problems, try using the Clear CMOS jumper for several seconds
while the unit is unplugged from the wall.
JP4 1-2 Clear CMOS and 2-3 Normal
The manual instructs you to disconnect the Power Cables from the mainboard
before doing this although many just say to unplug the power cord from the wall
or surge protector outlet.

No.
Did you adjust the Ram timings in the BIOS to be more aggressive?
If so, that can cause the problems you mention and clearing the CMOS (BIOS)
should help.
The MB manual also states:
"If you manually set the wrong speed and the system won't run properly,press the
Page Up key while the system is booting and a default setting will replace the
incorrect CPU setting."
