Welcome to the world of Tesco type shop bought pc's - these should be avoided at all costs....

But i will continue...

The problem is that it sounds like your recovery patition is running in a loop and corrupted...

What you need is Windows Media Centre Edition OEM CD's ( which i hasten to add is a Windows XP Pro downgraded and adds MCE to it )..

The partion needs to be removed, wiped and started a refresh.. also a back up of drivers are needed as thes I-Qons - which are made in Ireland btw and are a separate company in its own to philips.

I have two copies of MCE and these are like gold dust now...Im keeping these for this purpose but there are some on ebay at the moment...

The other thing is, you could ring Iqon and ask them for a set of recovery disks... I dont know how dear they are....

Where abouts are u as i could do it for you, im in Chelmsford in Essex...
