hello

i bought my new abit kv7 motherboard and my brand new maxtor SATA 80 GB hard
disk.

i installed windows xp professional edition and everything seemed to go just
ok.

a few weeks ago out of the blue my 'puter just didn't start up at all saying
something like "unbootable volume".

i was able to rescue all the data i had in the hard disk (using a friend of
mine's puter) and the i formatted and re-installed windows again.

a couple of days after that, the exact same thing happened.

again i formatted and re-installed windows.

now again.

this time i installed windows on my old 6 GB ata disk and tried to use the
SATA one as secondary disk.
it's not working... like the sata is not even there.

what should i do?
what could the problem be?

could it be the internal sata controller of my mobo?
if so, buying and external one will solve the problem?

thanks everyone
-m
