Depends. I have an Android Samsung Galaxy. I believe it has to be WIRED. IF you connect it to a laptop, you may be able to use the Wifi (4G, 3G, 2G) speeds and connect to the internet, thus connecting to Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc. However, I don't know if it'll work on an XBOX, or to connect to a Blu Ray player unless it's WIRELESS hotspot. The phone itself should be able to play Netflix.

You can connect to Netfix with any internet connection, wifi off your router, random free wifi, phone hotspot, etc...

As long as you get broad-band type speeds from the connection, will work OK. I can stream Netflix on my 3G phone, so speeds around there will be good.
