hello all. last nite my sygate firewall disappeared altogether. have no
clue why. it usually would run at boot time, but not now. it wont even
start when clicking at the ico, and the sygate directory is apparently
empty. i sent the report to microsoft after it reported a failure.

i run trend micro again and found a trojan: troj...4, etc. which i
deleted. i dont know if this would have been the culprit, i suspect it has
to do with the microsoft service pack 2 that is being downloading in
pieces via my 56k connection. i had enabled autoupdate, now i am having
second thoughts and plan on getting the pack on cd.

any suggestions folks as to what the best course is to follow from here? i
thought of disabling system restore and running a virus scan then, but
then, what about what....? Thanks for your help.

jose
