Hello,

I have recently decided to build myself a computer, so thought I'd join a forum dedicated to such activities. This will be my first build, although I have been working over the summer (I'm in New Zealand, it's currently summer) assembling computers. I'm currently waiting for the parts to arrive, but here is what I have coming:

Case: Thermaltake Element S
Motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-LE
CPU: Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz 8MB
RAM: 2x Corsair 2GB DDR3-1600
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB
GPU: ASUS ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB (although the supplier said they had upgraded my video card for free, so I am waiting to see what I get)
PSU: Corsair HX450 450W Modular Power Supply
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit

I'm very excited about getting my new system up and running, as my current is overdue for replacement. Any comments etc. welcome!

very good build.
good balance of parts, though personally i would go for a more powerful GPU.

I'm studying at Canterbury University.

I don't intend to use it as a gaming machine, so the GPU isn't a major concern. It was more a case of lacking onboard video.
The supplier has said they upgraded my GPU for free, but they haven't said what to. Could be a surprise waiting for me!

looks like a very capable system, well balanced. What you planning on using it for?

Thanks. I intend to use it as my everyday machine, but also as a media machine i.e. music and movies. I may play a few games now and then, but that's not really a concern as I have my Xbox for that =P

sounds like you have a pretty great machine for what you want then.

if theyve upgraded your GPU, its likely gone to a 4770. this wil actually mean you could game on your pc comparibably or even better than your xbox.

Oh yeah, I picked up my optical drive today from work. I got an ASUS DRW-22B2ST DVD-RW Drive. The rest of the system (i.e. everything except the optical) should arrive on Monday.
