Spider-Man for GBA save problem

Hello. I have problem with save feature on my Spider-Man game for my GBA. I choose one slot for saving, then when I play game, it should save my position. However when I turn my GBA off and on again, I start the game, I've got no saved positions there, like I've never played it. Did anyone else have this problem?

Never played this game first of all make sure you have really went through a checkpoint, and if the game really should have saved and did not this can be happening:

i've heard that gameboy advance uses a small battery inside the cartridges used to save, and after 4 years or something they stop working and will not save anymore, i think you should change your cartdridge battery:
