Ive recently built a mid-high end gaming pc to mainly play skyrim and other bethesda games
After trying skyrim on high and fallout new vegas on very high both have occasional stutter or lag every 10 seconds extremely annoying ive tryed many performance mods changing settings a bit and none have really helped much
i also overclocked my gpu and i didnt see any improvement in my fps
Also according to MSI afterburner im getting
60-59 fps in buildings 60-30 outside
and it still stutters a bit while in buildings this is skyrim btw
SPECS:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250 Mobo: ASUS M4A88T-M Ram: 4GB HDD: SEAGATE 500GB GPU: POWERCOLOR ATI HD 6850 PSU: COOLER EXTREME POWER 500W

be careful, it slooks like you a gpu heavy build there, which is good, but your cpu is too light. Overlcoking the CPU may cause the GPU to pull more power and i'm not sure about your PSU.
sorry to tell you, but that computer is not very good for playing CPU bound bethesda games. The only mid-high component in your specs is your graphics card.
do some research and overclock if possible, otherwise, if your mobo is AM3, upgrade to a phenom II

Even so fallout new vegas shouldnt be a problem even with my cpu im getting max 75 fps and it still stutters slightly
