hi all,
i love bf3 , couldnt play for a while finishing the run so the problem is when i start bf3 a black screen appears and after some time game crashes
my rig : http://www.xfire.com/profile/utkarsh74 , scroll down for rig
i can play other games but not this one
i have a pic but cant upload , dont know how to , tell me how and i can upload.
the exact error:
DirectX Error
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badly formed commands.. GPU: "AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series", Driver: 11.10(8.902-111012a-127455c-ATI)
I have the same problem, I been trying to find a solution for this.. I tried about everything... I updated direct X, my graphics card, uninstall bf3 and re install, and some other things. I think its an issue from EA/Origin, hopefully they fix it.
iirc amd !@#$ed up drivers for bf3, they're notorious for releasing buggy drivers whenever a new high demanding game launches. use a driver sweeping program to remove all amd gfx drivers and try a fresh install of drivers. or try searching google/bf3 forums for people with the same problem as yours.

what is your psu? did you change something in your pc recently? did rebooting pc work? did you insert gfc card's pcie power cables properly? and make up your mind about what your problem is and how can you solve it. arguing about which is better is useless. you already have the secong most powerful single gpu card from amd - overclocked. you should be fine with it. also read tom's recent bf3 performance analysis. edit: also try googling the error code you received when bf3 crashed.

I was facing same problem with win 7 ultimate, 64 bit edition. when i installed dx9.c then bf3 runs. There is no effect on dxdiag, it is still shows direct x 11 installed and bf3 runs in dx11 mode.

nvidia just pay them to add it in the starting and thats why they are highly overpriced.
ati does but only on atari games or some other.
crysis 2 would run same on a ati and a nvidia equivalent cards

Yes, mate, I get the idea, but to be influenced to a such degree by mere advertising, cause that's what it actually is, that's just sad; sounds like we're reduced to the stage where we're all sheep.
Anyways, I've used in the past Nvidia cards, as well as ATI ones; they're all the same bunch to me, all with their shortcomings and good parts as well. But there's no chance I'd favor one company over the other just because I get to see "Nvidia - The way it's meant to be played" or "AMD - Gaming evolved." I think people tend to favor one over the other because of the quality - price ratio. Well, most people that is.

I have just gotten the game, and never been inside a game on BF3 Yet..
It crashes everytime i try, sometimes with this bug, and sometimes it just says Bf3 stopped working. Please Help)) and ask

All Fixed for my pc... See the following and this will probably FIX Yours..............
BattleField 3 - Nvidia DirectX Function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" GTX 580 Driver 29573 error... I started getting this error a couple of months ago. Thought mabye the video card was the issue, but it appears it is caused by the BIOS of my ASUS P8P67 Motherboard. It appears it was the 2103 BIOS update that was causing all of the DirextX crashing issues. Upgraded to the newer 2302 BIOS updated from march 2, 2012 and the crashing has stopped. It appears that system stability of the motherboard was the cause. Check your motherboard downloads to make sure you have the latest or appropriate BIOS... It has been hard to find anything on google to address this. Hopefully the title will make it easy to find... Good luck fellow Gamers.......

cool. but i see a lot of fanbois not even trying... calling on the old myth that ati doesnt release good drivers... absolutely B.S. they have for the last 3 years increased there releases and have gained a reputation for bringing out good drivers... while on the other hand nvidia have released drivers 2-3 times that actually killed, YES ACTUALLY KILLED gfx cards*... you dont hear the nvidia fanboi's reminding you of that 18 months after it happens but they will crow about a driver problem that was solved 3 years ago if its ati... they need to grow up... buy performance not the brand... and stop misrepresenting the truth if you dont like a brand then just say you prefer something else. no need to make up stories or take facts out of context...
ati released 12.1 beta performance drivers that give good performance on bf3 in fact all there performance drivers that have been released since bf3 beta have worked well... i know this because i was using the PB drivers on the beta test...
currently i have 2 m8's playing bf3 regularly 1 with ati the other with nvidia and its the guy with the nvidia card thats having an artifact problem because of the drivers...
the only game i can say that ati failed as bad as nvidia was with rage... both companies got it wrong and produced poor first editions...
*nvidia NVIDIA 195.62 and 196.75 forced misreading of temps so would stop the fan causing the cards to overheat and blow...
anyways op glad you managed to fix the problem and im stoked that you worked through it and found it wasnt a gfx problem at the bottom of it... kudos...
