Has EA's Origin put you off BF3?

I dont know about you guys but im pretty excited about BF3 and will most likly be getting it on PC becuase thats the way its ment to be played, how ever with this whole controversy about Origin being pretty much spyware, how many people are actually put off by this?

Yes it certainly does put me off. EA has no right to go snooping through my computer just because they feel like it. Suffice to say, I will not be playing until a way to circumvent the Origin requirement presents itself.

I know all versions will be using origin, but will it be less intrusive on the ps3 and xbox than the pc version? I was planning on getting the ps3 version because of this.

I have no intentions to play BF3.

However, I would like to play ME3 and I'm not too happy with Origin.

That's not true. Most of the people I've spoken to in person who knew about origin are put off by the fact its a free pass to view anything they wish on your hard drive. I realise it may not be such a huge deal, and my not impact us directly just yet but its just totally unessential.

Would you let a stranger walk through your house just to document what items you have?

If its that much of a liability then EA and Dice are pretty much asking people to pirate it.

This is what turned me off. I don't mind it doing a scan of my hardware, but there is no need to check software.

This also isn't good:

I really like STEAM...most of my games are there. I'm not sure what Origin offers but if it works like STEAM (you can redownload your title any time you want) then I'm not that heart broken. If they have a bunch of DRM with limited installs and other crappy rules in the EULA then I'm simply not buying it.

Too bad because I really wanted to make the switch back from COD to BF. I use to be such a big BF2 fan...

I would feel better about it if it worked as well as Steam does.
It has not put me off as I did preorder BF3 on origin.

I don't mind a couple of platforms. I use GoG, Steam, and D2D. That said I prefer Steam.

I have never been given reason to trust EA. Over and again they have burned their customers. They insist that if you want to play PC games you will have to capitulate to the EA lack of support and their demand that they can invade our PC take your data and sell it.

No thanks. I will not be using Origin. Even if it means that ME2, TOR, and future Dragon Age offerings may be lost to me. Fortunately these days there are enough gaming houses to keep my gaming needs satisfied without submitting this EA spyware atrocity.

I do not care about loyalty. Steam, Origin, whatever. There are terms of service and they should clear. Currently EA's EULA is not acceptable. There are tons of games on Steam (were damn cheap during Summer Camp Sale or Autumn Sale) so this is not the end of the world. I will surely miss BF3, ME3 and DA2 which I planned to buy on Steam. I care about my privacy and will not buy any of future EA games, which requires Origin to play.
BTW... As far as I know EA requires now 4 programs (software items) in order to play BF3: Origin, BF3 executable, Browser, Browser Add-On. I count the add-on as separate item, since it's dedicated stuff running all the time in browser. It is strange requirement to install add-on to play a game. BF3 is not a game in browser anyway, so why do I need this add-on running all the time when I do not play?
For now... I stick to Steam.

It doesnt really bother me tbh, lots of people hated steam when it first come out but now the majority like it i guess. Still i would rather EA left their games on steam, but it wont stop me playing their games if they are good.

The thought of having to use Origin bothered be quite a bit. However, I already had an account for it because I have an EA account and also its a replacement for the EA Download Manager. I don't really like that I have to have it running to play the game, but oh well. I close it when I am not running the game, so it's no big deal. Since they made the Battlefield console a webpage, for all intense and purposes, I guess they needed an app that would launch the game and such. I would much prefer to use Steam, it's a tried and true system that I'd buy from before any. But let's face it, physical media and non-cloud based storage for games is soon a thing of the past.

As far as my information be scarified, I'd delete my Facebook account for that concern before an Origin account. Facebook is by far the more evil entity.

put me off big time. I was planning to get the game, as soon as I heard about origin and all the crap, I said I'll get by without the game.

I figured EA was just looking for good sources of dog-porn so I went ahead and got BF3. Needless to say, both myself and the staff over at Electronic Arts are feeling pretttttttttty smug right about now -.O

It did for a while. The only reason I got it last week was because a friend sold me an extra limited addition key that he didn't need for $25. And while BF3 is a lot of fun, Origin and the "battlelog" absolutely take away from the experience. I'm glad that I didn't preorder it back in August because I would have been very disappointed.

never pay for some games may you dowload free the best way is to download BF3 black box istal and play there is no easier way
