Okay I really don't want to format but i'm having trouble opening up some older games.. It gives me this 'encountered a problem and needs to close' error when loading up a game.

I just upgraded my video card from a 9700pro to a 6800GT. I uninstalled all of ati drivers as much as I could including registry settings and did a hard drive search. My question is, could the old drivers be causing these errors? Is that possible? If not then what is it?

New games run fantastic it's only games around the year 2001 seem to give me this error. :/

How old of games/what games?
New video cards are designed for new games. They don't really care about keeping up support for very old games :)
You can tell that pretty fast if you run 3dmark01. You will probably have a similar or lower 3dmark score than your 9700.

Yeah, thats usually because of all the extra pipes and whistles the new video cards have that the old games have to go through while the older video cards get filled up nicely by the data.

I have four so far that give me the error. Undying, Alice, Warcraft III, and NOLF 1. It's driving me nuts!
