has anyone played the demo yet? I tried it and its not that good. Even though its using the CoD4 engine the controls are different and the graphics don't look as good. Also they chose to use the same iron sight aiming method as in medal of honor airborne where u had to hold down the right mouse button to keep aiming in iron sights which made my fingers hurt when sniping. Also for 600mb there was only 10minutes of gameplay or less.

Man I downloaded the demo after seeing this thread, and I'm pretty impressed with the gameplay, ESPECIALLY for a movie game. I thought it looked pretty close to COD4, though not as good. I switched the controls to reflect my COD4 settings, so I just used my middle mouse button to toggle the iron sights aiming, instead of all that gay "hold down the right mouse button to aim" stuff. Yes, it was extremely short, and that was my only complaint, other than the frame rate lock at 30, which just about drove me nuts while I played.

I'd suggest that anyone reading this go try it out - I for one was pleasantly surprised!

Which versions did you guys play?

I was supposed to play the game at an Activision preview event about two weeks ago but I missed Quantum of Solace, sadly. I did, however, get to play a lot of Call of Duty: World at War co-op/MP and it knocked my socks off. Preview article coming soon...

I'm going to download and put in my 2 cents.

On a side note, I thought Casino Royale was a great film, I hope this one is too but "quantum of solace" is such a gay name for a bond film I have my doubts....

I played the PC version as well - really liked the gameplay, but doesn't touch COD4.

Just played the demo. I thought it sucked royally. The gfx are bad, though very smooth high fps.

The sewer level as a demo ffs. The most linear level they could find, and when you see whoever it is your chasing and pump 5-6 bullets in his head, he doesn't even flinch, if you have and wander around and ignore the "chase" it makes no difference, when you come back to where you left off the script starts again (with you firing another 5-6 bullets in his head to no effect grrr).

I thought the demo level was really poorly designed imho, like a game from a few years ago. COME ON BOND YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!

Mind you, I'm coming from the perspective of only having played one other bond game (Goldeneye on the N64) which was possibly the most fun fps I've ever played (oh the humour of setting booby traps for Natalia on the bunker level , then the cut scene, she runs outside BOOOOOOM!!!! HA HA HA HA, bitch......)

There's a good reason why the graphics for the PC versions are weak: Treyarch and Activision passed the work off to a third party developer, Beenox, which is also doing the Wii version of Quantum of Solace. Yes, you read that right -- the same developer doing the Wii version is responsible for the PC version. Fantastic...

As for the demo, I was disappointed. Beyond the graphics, it was way too short. I did like the cover system, though.

Guess I'm alone then. I thought it was good compared to my expectations...but still not nearly as good as several other games out there that are far more worth the money. I would personally never buy this game, but it did surprise me in that I actually had fun playing it, and didn't think it sucked royally.

That's a pretty big insult to the PC; next we'll have DS and PSP developers doing the PC version. :pt1cable:

is the pc version of CoD5 being made by beenox or treyarch

Seemed like a pretty standard shooter. I'd rent if one could actually rent PC games. The graphics were sub-par.

Call of Duty 5 for the PC is most definitely developed by Treyarch, not Beenox. And the MP/Co-op demo I played was awesome. I think what happened here was, Treyarch had a lot of projects on their hands and just decided they'd focus their PC dev team on CoD5 and pass off Quantum of Solace to another developer, which is too bad.
