Flat-Panel Monitors will Dominate New Sales
Sales of flat-panel computer monitors, measured in dollars, are expected to overtake sales of traditional tube monitors this holiday season and into next year, according to an industry research firm's findings that were released yesterday. The computer industry is hoping that this prediction will be a turning point for the economy battered computer industry. And as part of making this prediction become a reality, computer manufacturers are offering large discount incentives on their new flat-panel models, which usually cost significantly more than traditional monitors. By the year 2006, sales of flat-panel screens are predicted to have more than an 80% share of the desktop computer market, and from now until 2006, sales are predicted to grow at a nearly 50% compounded annual growth rate.
