First-tier motherboard shipments up 20 percent in 3Q
Motherboard shipments from first-tier makers - Asustek Computer, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), Gigabyte Technology, and Micro-Star International (MSI) - totaled 26.5-26.7 million units in the third quarter, up 20-2 percent% on year and 15 percent sequentially.
The four makers shipped a combined total of 9.9-10.1 million motherboards in September, up 17-19% from 8.4 million units in September 2004.
