Block diagram of the REALmagic EM8500 chip. In principle, the decoder works together with an EPROM memory and conventional SDRAM memory (PC100). There is also a video memory.
Deficits: Copy-Protected Audio CDs, Older DivX Formats
At this point we would like to elaborate on several weak points that we noticed during testing. Basically, the KiSS Player does not play audio CDs with copy protection. DivX video with 3.x codec cannot be played back.

The player delivers quite an impressive image quality when media with JPEG images is played back.

Video output in DivX (MPEG-4) format: with full PAL resolution, the edges (overscan) are not shown on the TV screen. For this reason, a black edge should be calculated in with movies.

Zoom function: areas of the video window can be enlarged up to 400 percent.
