Firefox 2.0 Beta 1 RC available for download

Mozilla has released the download of the first beta of its Firefox 2.0 browser a few days early. Originally scheduled for an 11 July release, some users found the 5.4 MB release candidate file on Mozilla’s public FTP servers already Sunday night.

Don’t expect dramatic changes, but rather subtle improvements in Firefox’ user interface. For example, the "Options" menu has been reorganized and every browser tab now carries its own "Close" symbol - instead of showing the logo on the right edge of the browser tab. During our first test run, the beta appeared to run stable, but - as all Firefox updates - may require updated versions of previously installed browser extensions.
