Final Win2000 beta due next month

Despite persistent rumors that Windows 2000 will be delayed until next year, Microsoft executives insist the company is on track to deliver the new operating system before year-end.

However, Microsoft's Business and Enterprise Division vice president Brian Valentine has also acknowledged that the final beta release of the product won't be out until November.

Valentine boasted that Windows 2000 is the "largest operating system development and deployment project in the history of mankind."
