Nvidia Releases Entire Lineup of DX11 Mobile GPU

Nvidia Optimus now in all new mobile GPU parts.

Nvidia has overhauled its mobile offerings today with the introduction of the DirectX 11-capable GeForce 400M series of GPUs.

The new series of Nvidia GeForce 400M GPUs includes:

  • For enthusiast users: GeForce GTX 470M and GTX 460M.

  • For performance users: GeForce GT 445M, GT 435M, GT 425M, GT 420M and GT 415M.

The entire family supports Nvidia Optimus technology, which automatic switching on and off the GPU so that it runs only when needed.

The GeForce 400M series can also deliver stereoscopic 3D images for games, movies and photos when configured with Nvidia 3D Vision glasses and a 3D display.

"The GeForce 400M Series takes the award-winning Fermi architecture across a complete line-up of DirectX 11 GPUs for notebook," said Rene Haas, general manager of notebook GPUs at Nvidia. "Coupled with Optimus technology, 400M Series notebook GPUs deliver great performance for visual computing applications when you need it, and great battery life when you don't."

Current vendors integrating the new GPU into their notebooks include Acer, Asus, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung and Toshiba.

Unlike desktop Fermi, mobile Fermi looks to be an excellent generation judging by most (limited) information I've seen.

Given the vast importance of laptops in today's hardware market, this could make 2010 a pretty good year after all in the mainstream GPU market.

funny i remember the days that nvidia saying they dont really give a rats azz about dx11 o wait now i remember it was b4 they had 1 dx11 card out and only ati had them out, immmmmmm DOH!!!!

Link to article/source? Seems very funny that they would say something like that only to do a complete generation re-design based around the main feature of DX11 - Tessellation.
