Feds sue to block Oracle-PeopleSoft merger
The U.S. Justice Department sued Thursday to block Oracle’s hostile $9.4 billion bid for rival business software maker PeopleSoft, raising the likelihood the proposed shotgun marriage won’t happen. Seven states joined the Justice Department in a lawsuit that contends a combination between Oracle and PeopleSoft would stifle competition in the $20 billion market for business applications software.
