Fat Pipes for Ethernet

By - Source: Tom's Hardware | B 0 comment

Another focus evident in the networking sector this year is moving toward 10 Gigabit connectivity. Tality's 10 GB Ethernet Media Access Controller comprises an XGMII interface, a TX and RX module, a FIFO interface, a processor interface, a management block, and an optional POS/PHY interface. Tality says the controller is supposed to speed up applications such as Ethernet switching/routing devices, network processor applications, and Ethernet into WAN aggregation devices. What we really need are devices that install themselves, to keep the IT folks from banging their heads against the wall.
