Ubisoft acquires rights to Far Cry/CryEng
Fresh off its release of Far Cry Instincts Evolution for the Xbox and Far Cry Instincts Predator for the Xbox 360, Ubisoft announced today that the company had completed acquisition of all intellectual property (IP) rights for the Far Cry franchise as well as a "perpetual license" to use the CryEngine Far Cry Edition from Crytek, the original German developer of Far Cry and the CryEngine.
