Fancy Metallic 15" Hitachi LCD
You know, I usually joke about people buying monitors to match their décor, but we keep seeing more and more spiffy-looking screens, so I guess there's no reason you shouldn't get both form and function if that's what you're looking for. Hitachi seems to think it has found a balance between the two with its CML155V LCD, the first in Hitachi's new Designer Decor series featuring a two-tone metallic silver and blue finish in a skinny 8.1" deep package (including the base). The CML155V has both analog and DVI-D inputs for computing applications, while supporting S-Video and RGB composite inputs for video applications so that you can hook the display up to your computer, VCR, camcorder, DVD player, or other multimedia device. The display also provides active switching between two different inputs so that you can have two different devices attached to it and switch back and forth between them through an on-screen menu. The CML155V is compatible with both PC and Macintosh analog inputs and has a .297 mm pixel pitch, 300-nit brightness, a 500:1 contrast ratio, and a prime resolution of 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz for both analog and digital inputs. The viewing area is a full 15"es (304 x 228 mm) and the monitor has an auto adjust function and on-screen display tuning for brightness, contrast, H/V position, and color temperature. The CML155V weighs 12 lbs and speakers and a microphone are built into the front bezel. The panel meets the VESA FPMPMI (Flat Panel Monitor Physical Mounting Interface) standard, so that you can mount it on your wall or use a third party mounting arm. It also features a Kensington Security Port and is TCO 95' approved. It's priced at $529. Once again, if you're in the market for an LCD display, be sure to check out Vincent's comparison of 13 LCD monitors , which can give you a good idea of what to look for. If you're going to tell us that something's pretty, you really should send along a picture.
