Falcon Northwest goes retail
The performance PC segment is getting increasingly competitive and we are beginning to see some ideas from those companies to break out of their familiar segment : On the one side there are firms such as Alienware and VoodooPC that are seeking the help of larger system builders (such as Dell and HP) to support their research and reach. On the other, there are firms that try to expand on their own - such as Velocity Micro, which has been showing up in Best Buy stores lately.
Falcon Northwest is playing with the retail idea as well, with sales of its "Frag Box" computer cases now being shifted to etailer Newegg. The shoebox-sized computer case is being offered as a DIY case that can house standard-size ATX power supplies and standard micro-ATX form factor motherboards. Falcon Northwest claims that the Frag Box’ cooling configuration can accommodate high-performance configurations, including Nvidia quad-SLI configurations.
Newegg offers the chassis for $290.
