eShades aim to replace monitors
A small California company, InViso, is marketing a pair of wraparound sunglasses, containing a full-screen computer display and speakers, as a security devise that is immune to eavesdropping or unauthorized viewing. Using "microdisplays," the glasses present a perceived image larger than a desktop monitor several feet away, minimizing eyestrain according to the company founder, who calls his product an "ergonomic magnifier." Other companies are working on similar wearable displays and the US military has used such products for some time. Sony and Microvision have invested in similar technologies and InViso's list of investors includes Qualcomm, Cypress Semiconductor, and Mitsui.
