Epson's PowerLite 51c and 71c Portable Projectors
One has to think that these little projectors are getting pretty popular based on the number of them that we've seen in the past year. They're definitely getting smaller and lighter. Epson's new PowerLite 51c and PowerLite 71c are the latest incarnations of its 50c and 70c. The PowerLite 51c offers increased brightness over its predecessor at 1,200 ANSI lumens, SVGA (800 x 600) native resolution, a 400:1 contrast ratio and is priced at $2,199. The PowerLite 71c is rated at 1,000 ANSI lumens with XGA (1,024 x 768) native resolution, 300:1 contrast ratio and sells for $2,999. Both models weigh 6.8 pounds and measure 8.6" x 3.2" x 11.8" and both make use of Seiko Epson's three-LCD projection system. The three 0.7" LCDs are intended to create varying shades of red, green and blue that blend to produce a sharper image. The projectors' SizeWise resizing allows for compatibility with resolutions from VGA (640 x 480) up to XGA (1,024 x 768) on the PowerLite 51c, and up to SXGA resolution (1,280 x 1,024) on the PowerLite 71c. The projector is also HDTV-ready and supports digital video signals that include 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Epson's Value Series projectors come with a two-year limited warranty in case you intend to project your image for an extended amount of time.
