Emerging technology signals changes in power supplies
Market research firm TechTrends predicts a new class of power supplies will be introduced during the next three years, featuring integrated battery back-up.
Driving the market shift is growth in the desktop PC market and an increase in the number of communications applications that require uninterruptible operation. The past three years have seen a doubling in the number of vendors that produce uninterruptible switch-mode power supplies, bringing the total to more than 25. Increased competition is spawning more innovative designs.
