eMachines unleashes eMonster
Low-price PC leader eMachines is going upscale, introducing a new top-of-the-line model that breaks the $1,000 price barrier.
The company's new $1,099 eMonster 550R features a 550MHz Pentium III chip, a 15GB hard drive, and dual DVD and CD-RW drives.
The PC maker also introduced new models at its standard $399, $499 and $599 price points, and unveiled a new $799 eTower 533iR that features a CD-RW and a 533MHz Celeron chip. A new notebook PC, called eSlate, and an all-in-one PC called eOne were also added to the eMachine product family.
