Long-awaited prototypes of e-paper, uniting organic transistors with spray-on electronic ink, will be demonstrated at the fall meeting of the Materials Research Society this week. Developed by E Ink Corp. and Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories, the display technology provides better contrast than newsprint and should be both flexible and cheap. The company indicates that commercial versions of the technology are about five years away.
