Batman, Dr. Evil and the X-Men all have something in common: a secret home filled with gadgets. At the recent 2004 Electronic House Expo held at the Long Beach Convention Center, aspiring super-heroes and super-villains alike were shown how to outfit their homes with the latest in gadgetry.

Pelham Sloane's PS1500 - Touchscreen Wonder

Build a computer into a 15" LCD monitor and you get the PS1500 by Pelham Sloane . This device is meant to be an unobtrusive and elegant computing solution for newer homes. It can be used as a normal computer, or wall-mounted in places like the kitchen or bathroom.

The PS1500 has all the normal PC ports that you would expect, and can even take PCMCIA or PCI cards. There is a CD/DVD drive built into the side as well. The top model has a Pentium 4 2.6 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. Officials at Pelham Sloane demonstrated a model that had the ATi HDTV Wonder built-in, with the unit sending HDTV output to another monitor.

The screen has a touch-sensitive five-wire mesh that is rated for 35 million touches. For the traditional user, a wireless keyboard and mouse are also included. The PS1500 can display television and can even be used as a digital video recorder. It can also serve as your media server, holding media for other computers to display.
