ECS tries hand in high-price market with nearly US$100 865PE-based motherboard
Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) recently surprised the market by introducing a high-end "Photon" motherboard line, stepping into a market segment that it has not dedicated much effort to in the past. The first product in the Photon series is a motherboard based on Intel's 865PE discrete chipset. Designed with support for Serial ATA (SATA), eight USB 2.0 ports, AGP 8x graphics technology and the IEEE 1394 standard, ECS's new 865PE board is priced at US$90-100, about twice ECS's usual product price range of US$45-48.
