ECS to be more than a motherboard maker in 2007
After acquiring Tatung’s desktop PC business and merging with notebook maker Uniwill Computer in 2006, motherboard maker Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) said the company will look to equally develop all three businesses - motherboard, notebook and desktop - this year, with the focus being on OEM/ODM business, according to the company. Although the company acquired Tatung’s desktop business in the beginning of 2006, ECS did not see a strong performance from the desktop segment last year, as ECS was not able to continue a partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP), which was a major contract partner of Tatung.
